Trailwork in State Game Lands 285

On May 21st, 2002,  Wampum Chapter members Bill Majernik, Cecil Nelly, and Richard Lutz began construction work again in State Game Lands 285.  They did hillside construction work cleared trail already complete and painted blue blazes along the trail.

Trail Dedication in Wampum, Pennsylvania

On May 18th, 2002, the Wampum Chapter along with Matt Kingman, President of the Wampum Historical Society and Lou Ferrante, President of The Wampum Business Association held a trail dedication in Wampum Pennsylvania.  The event consisted of driving carsonite posts into the ground and placing the official certification markers and blazes through the borough of Wampum.

Wampum Chapter Presentation to the Wampum Historical Society

On May 21st, 2001, the Wampum Chapter gave a presentation on the North Country Trail to the Wampum Historical Society in Wampum Pennsylvania.  After the presentation, the chapter proceeded to lead a half-mile hike through State Game Lands 148, to show where the trail is completed right now near Wampum.

Earth Day 2001

On April 21st, 2001 the Wampum Chapter was past of the Earth Day events at Riverside High School in Ellwood City, Pennsylvania.  The chapter greeted people and answered question on the North Country Trail.  They also showed a video on the trail to people. Here are pictures from the day.

Mill Creek MetroPark Hike  

On February 24, 2001, the Wampum Chapter lead a hike through Mill Creek MetroPark, in Youngstown, Ohio.  The hike lead past Letterman's Mill and through the park.  Here are photo's from the hike.

Second Annual Christmas Dinner-2000

On December 21st, 2000, the Wampum Chapter held it's Second Annual Christmas Dinner at Cindy Lou's Restaurant in Wampum, Pennsylvania.  The chapter also held a short meeting at the dinner.  Afterwards members got together for a small get together.

National Trails Day-1999

On June the 5, 1999, the Wampum Chapter lead a hike for National Trails Day through McConnell's Mill State Park. Every though it was a small group that showed up, it was a enjoyable experience by all. Little Beaver Creek Hike-1999

On Feburary 27 of 1999, the Wampum traveled to the Little Beaver Creek valley for its first hike for 1999. The group traveled from the Ohio River to an area known as Grimm's Bridge. To read more about this hike, see the April issue of the "The Wampum Trail Blazer".

The Visit from the National Park Service's, Bill Menke to the Wampum Chapter

On the December 21 and 22 of 1998, Bill Menke from the National Park Service came to the area to help improve relations with the public, work on planning a route through Lawrence and Beaver County, and help GPS the trail in McConnell's Mill State Park. Here are some photos from the event.
