WALK WITH US
On our section of the North Country Trail
From Starvation Lake Road in Kalkaska County to north of Conway, Michigan in Emmet County. For descriptions of the segments click on the OUR TRAIL link to the left.

To our chapter meetings
We meet every other month except for July. January we meet in Houghton Lake. March and November we meet in Sanford, Michigan.
During the warmer months of May and September
we schedule our meetings at the National Fish Hatchery in the Jordan Valley near our trail, to allow our members who live up north to attend and also to be able to do our trail walk-thru's at the same time.

The members who started the chapter had two things in common; hiking and the Tittabawassee River in their back yard; that's how our chapter got its name.

A new addition to our membership is Friends of the Hatchery, an affiliate organization, that
adopted a section of trail to maintain. Read more by clicking on the GET TO KNOW US link at the left and going to the bottom of that page.

To work on the trail
We have many projects to complete. We have more projects than we have workers, so If you want to go out in the woods with a purpose, join us. For more information please E-mail Duane
To adopt a trail
Our members adopt three to five mile pieces of trail and do walk-thru's, checking for downed trees and branches, blazing and doing general trail upkeep.

where you will find resources for trail maintenance, forms for reporting hours and on-line trail maintainer reports.
On a trail promotion
In the spring and fall we participate in a promotion of backpacking and The North Country National Scenic Trail at Jay's Sporting in either Gaylord or Clare, Michigan.
In the fall our chapter has a display about hiking trails at Deadman's Hill in Antrim County where our trail is located.
On our Ridge Runner program
Every weekend during the summer months, our chapter has a member hiking the NCT/Jordan Valley Pathway as a representative of trails to pass out maps and promote the NCT.
In advancing our trail
We are working on getting the necessary permissions to reroute trail off of roads southeast of the City of Petoskey onto private land. We will need lots of extra hands to put this trail in.
