National Winter Trails Day! Come enjoy a day of snowshoeing, hiking or cross-country skiing at Fort Ransom State Park. Pack your snowshoes, hiking boots or skis and meet at 1:30 pm at the Rosebud Visitor Center in Valley City to carpool to the Park. We will begin the activities at 2:15 pm at the park and will end the day with supper (dutch treat) at Thor's in Fort Ransom at 5:00 pm. Events are weather permitting so make contact with the above names if weather is in question before traveling.

Saturday, May 15

Karnak to Sibley Hike! Help us greet the summer hiking season by meeting for this 5 mile hike along the rugged shoreline of Lake Ashtabula. This hike includes some great vistas and is considered to be moderate in difficulty. Meet at the Rosebud Visitor Center at 9:30 am to carpool or meet at 10:00 am at the parking area west of the Karnak bridge to begin the hike. Expect to hike for 2.5 hours with lunch (dutch treat) to follow at Sibley.

Saturday, June 5

National Trails Day! Fort Ransom State Park, Hike at 10:00 am led by Park staff followed by a brown bag lunch (bring your own). The afternoon will consist of a 3-4 hour canoeing trip down the Sheyenne River with an evening picnic provided by the chapter at 5:00 pm. Evening hiking and campfire activities planned. Camping at the park will be optional that night. Canoe event is subject to water levels. RSVP to above names to reserve your canoe as there will be a fee for this activity. Carpool will leave from the Rosebud Visitor Center at 9:20 am. Please RSVP a week in advance.

North Country Trail Annual Conference! Plan to attend our national conference in Ashland, Wisconsin. Great hiking, Great speakers and a Great way to make new hiking friends from throughout the nation.

4th Annual North Country Hiking Fest @ Itasca State Park (MN)! This full-day event will feature hikes, workshops, family activities, a free dinner, and a concert by the shores of Lake Itasca. Saturday, Sept 25-Sunday, Sept 26

National Public Lands Day! Come and join us for a full weekend of events at the Lone Tree Wildlife Management Area near Harvey, ND. Meet at the Rosebud Visitor Center at 9:00 am on Saturday to carpool to Harvey. Upon arriving at the Coal Mine Lake Campground we will eat the brown bag lunch (near noon) we have each packed. We will plan to hike Sat afternoon and make camp for the evening. This is very primitive camping with no utilities so be sure to pack adequate water, food, clothing, tents and lighting. The next morning we will enjoy a camp breakfast provided by the chapter and hike again before packing up for the return trip to Valley City. We plan to return by 4:00 pm on Sunday. Please RSVP a week in advance.

*Rain/shine appropriate clothing is recommended for all events. Bring water, sunscreen and bug spray.*
