Minutes of May 9, 2000 Meeting

The meeting was opened at 7:30 PM by Romona Venegas. President Joan Young was absent and so was Seth Hopkins, Vice President. The following people attended: Betty and Gorden Wilkes, Nancy and Ed Chappel, Romona Venegas, Steve Webster, Mary Soule, Angie and Mark Addington, Stuart Wolf, Howard and Candy Hopkins, Scott Johnson, and guests B.B. and Kris Ryan from Peterson Creek Outfitters.

Minutes of the April 11th meeting were read by Angie Addington. Motion to approve was made and 2nd. Mary S. made a motion to approve the Emergency meeting minutes, held on Earth Day. 2nd by Romona. Treasure's report was given by Ed Chappel. Balance is $487.33 Motion by Mary S. to accept and 2nd by Mark A. All in favor.

Ramona mentioned that we will put together the posters to distribute in Public places tonight. Some discussion followed. Mark made additional copies and we prepared them during the business meeting. Steve Webster gave a report on the Striders preparations for the 50 mile Run. He will need at least 8 Aid Stations every 2-4 miles and could use our help. Entry forms aren't ready yet. More blazing has been done from 5 mile to Timber Creek. There was lumbering North of Timber Creek and that area has been repaired.Ed mentioned we may need to check the trails before June 3rd. Steve will prepare schedules later.

There will be an additional meeting on May 30th here at the Ranger Station to further discuss plans for National Trail Day. A discussion followed about what kind of lunch we would provide. We will plan for at least 100. Angie wll check on cookies from the Food Co-OP, Mary also would help with cookies. Nancy will prepare herbal ice tea. Romona will look into ice cream, chips, hot dogs and buns.Other things mentioned were watermelons, carrot sticks , onions, and of course condiments. Paper products will be donated by Ryans.

Ramona mentioned that Joan is working on a Field Grant that would make the canoeing more reasonable for families, so we hope that will go through. A sign-up sheet was posted for leaders for various activities. Since some members were not present we will finalize this at next meeting.

The Ryans told us about their Llama Operation and passed out some of their literature which was very interesting. They plan to become members and will also pass out info on National Trails Day. Since there was no other business, Ed Chappel moved to adjourn, 2nd by Mark and all were in favor.
