The Pentwater Pathway is within the Pere Marquette State Forest, just south of Pentwater. There are 7.5 miles of trails maintained by volunteers of the Oceana Cross Country Ski Assoication and the Michigan Wildlife Division of the DNR, primarily for skiing.


Take Business 31 from the expressway to Pentwater. Just south of town turn west on Long Bridge Road. Cross the bridge and turn left on Wayne Road. Watch for a marked turn on a dirt road to the right in about a mile. The parking area is a widened space in the road 0.3 mile in, and you will notice the bench at the entrance to the trail system on your right.

There are about 7.5 miles of trail on the Pentwater Pathway. There is no fee. Walk to junction 4 1/2 by any route for this hike. This is an easy to moderate hike. Minimum distance required to get the answer to the question about 2.5 miles. The questions are listed on the entry form, and the question for this hike is on the printable information sheet.

If you prefer to hike in a group, there will be a hike on this piece of trail led by the Spirit of the Woods Chapter of the North Country Trail Association on Saturday, September 11. Meet 10 am at the parking area. Contact person TBA
