Segment 7, Forest Road 400 to Norwich Road


Length: 7.03 miles (3.32 miles from FR 400 to FR 630, 3.71 miles from FR 630 to Norwich Road)
Ownership: U.S. Forest Service

Developments along trail: Signs at trailheads on FR 400, FR 630, and Norwich Road, bridge over Mason Creek, future lean-to
General description of segment: FR 400 to FR 630: mostly upland hardwoods, aspen, and conifers, some bare rock ridges (with spectacular views), generally hilly, possible to bushwhack to Cascade Falls Trail using map and compass. FR 630 to Norwich Road: mostly flat to gently rolling, mixed aspen/conifer with minor hardwoods, several clearcuts and beaver dams, good potential campsites near stream crossing at northernmost part of this trail and near east side of beaver pond upstream from there.
Trail conditions (as of 2005):  Recent hikers have not  reported difficulty in this area. The trail crosses past clearcuts in the first half mile or so east of FR 630.  At one time the trail was extremely hard to follow in this area, but there are no recent reports of hikers with problems.
