Segment 5, Forest Road  326 to FR 400 (west half)


Length: 5.92 miles (1.55 miles from FR 326 to Gogebic Ridge Trail, 4.02 miles from Gobegic Ridge Trail to Soo Line Railroad, 0.35 miles from Soo Line Railroad to Bush Creek)
Ownership: U.S. Forest Service
Responsible for maintenance: U.S. Forest Service
Developments along trail: Signs at trailhead on FR 326 and at junction with Gogebic Ridge Trail, future lean-to site
General description of segment: Extremely scenic, spectacular views, high cliffs, nice stream near junction of Gogebic Ridge Trail (dependable water source), excellent campsite potential near Gogebic Ridge Trail, numerous potential spectacular campsites (with no water source) on ridges, mostly hardwoods on ridges (some areas with lots of red oak), some old growth forest, mixed forest in low areas, bare rock areas with sparse vegetation in places on ridges.  No roads in this area are plowed in winter.
Trail conditions (as of 2005): Trail should be mostly well-cleared and easy to follow.
