Segment 3, Big Iron River Bridge to Michigan Highway M-64


Length: 3.55 miles
Ownership: U.S. Forest Service
Responsible for maintenance: U.S. Forest Service
Developments along trail: Suspension bridge at Big Iron River, trail signs at parking area on M-64, possible future lean-to
General description of segment: Varied section, mostly aspen/spruce/fir/red maple/etc. but some hardwoods/hemlock, crosses mountain bike trail, view of Porkies from trail on ridge SE of Big Iron River bridge, potential camping near Big Iron River bridge and near Hooded Creek, Hooded Creek appears to be a permanent water source.  M-64 is plowed in winter.
Trail conditions (as of 2005): Trail was well-maintained and easy to follow,
