Length: 7.28 miles (3.32 miles from Sturgeon River bridge
to side trail to Sturgeon Falls, 1.03 miles from side trail to Sturgeon
Falls to FR 2200, 2.93 miles from FR 2200 to FR 2240)

land only in Sturgeon River valley bottom)

River, signs at trailheads at FR 2200 and 2240, sign at side trail to
Sturgeon
Falls
General description of segment: Hardwood/hemlock
forest in Sturgeon River valley, otherwise mostly oak/pine/red
maple/aspen
except jack pine toward south end of segment. Hilly in Sturgeon
River
valley, otherwise flat to rolling. No water sources except
Sturgeon
River. Camping possible along Sturgeon River but the trail is
quite
close to FR 2270 where it follows the river. Some recent logging
and clearcuts. No roads in this area are plowed in winter.
Trail conditions (as of 2005): Trail has
traditionally
been well-marked and easy to follow.
