Segment 19, Sturgeon River bridge on Forest Road 2270 to Forest Road 2240


Length: 7.28 miles (3.32 miles from Sturgeon River bridge to side trail to Sturgeon Falls, 1.03 miles from side trail to Sturgeon Falls to FR 2200, 2.93 miles from FR 2200 to FR 2240)

General description of segmentHardwood/hemlock forest in Sturgeon River valley, otherwise mostly oak/pine/red maple/aspen except jack pine toward south end of segment.  Hilly in Sturgeon River valley, otherwise flat to rolling.  No water sources except Sturgeon River.  Camping possible along Sturgeon River but the trail is quite close to FR 2270 where it follows the river.  Some recent logging and clearcuts.  No roads in this area are plowed in winter.
