Segment 10, United States Mine to west end of Lookout Mountain


Length: 3.41 miles (United States Mine to Lookout Mountain Overlook)

Developments along trail: None
General description of segment: Mixed forest, mostly hardwoods (maple, yellow birch, ash) and hemlock, oak common on ridges, some small bare rock areas, mixed flat and very hilly, excellent view from top of highest ridge, seasonally wet area in low spot east of highest ridge, where the small stream often provides a water sources, old mine adit at mid-1800's mine site.  See segment 11 info for cautions about driving Victoria Road.
Trail conditions (as of 2005): Should be well-cleared and easily followed.  Young aspen may be encroaching on the trail about 1/2 mile east of United States Mine. Trail heading westward from highest hill to the flat area has some overly-steep areas.
