NCTA to Create
Regional Trail Coordinators

December 14, 2001

At its meeting on December 1, the NCTA Board of Directors approved a conceptual plan to create two new, full-time positions to provide greater support to volunteers. These regional coordinators also will be charged with building stronger relations with state and local agencies, and serving as points of contact for the public. The full details and priorities of the new positions will be worked out with the involvement of the Trail Councils in each region, and also will be based on results of a recent survey of needs sent out to our leaders in the field. The east region coordinator will cover Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York, while the west region coordinator will cover North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan, and also will provide supervisory support to the east region coordinator. The west region coordinator will be based out of our national headquarters, and we'll be working to find a suitable location for the east region coordinator. In the coming years, we will continue to narrow the scope of these jobs with the ultimate goal of placing a paid coordinator in each of our seven states.
