Minnesota Wildflower
Brochure Available

March 18, 2001

A new brochure, featuring 50 of the most common wildflowers found in Minnesota's northern forests, will soon be available. Each flower is depicted in full color, along with a brief narrative describing its features and habitat. The small folder fits easily in a pocket or backpack, and the flowers are arranged by color. North Country Trail Hikers will find that the booklet is perfectly suited to the ecosystems along the trail in Minnesota, and probably other northern states.

Minnesota photographers Steve Mortensen, Stephen Maxson and Peter Card Jr. provided color photos of plants in bloom. Project funding and additional technical support was provided by the Lake States Interpretive Association and the Minnesota DNR Stewardship Forest program. Wildflowers of Minnesota's Northwoods was written and produced as a joint project by a group of biologists and botanists from the Chippewa National Forest, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Leech Lake Indian Reservation, and the Mississippi Headwaters Chapter of the Audubon Society.
