NPS Superintendent Tom Gilbert Logs 30 Years of Service

"Tom's dedication has earned the admiration of his peers."

We're very pleased and proud to announce that, this month, Tom Gilbert is celebrating his 30th anniversary of employment with the National Park Service (NPS).

Although many NPS employees move around throughout their career, Tom's career is distinguished by his persistent involvement with the North Country Trail. Back in the 70's, Tom helped author the intitial study of the trail, which led to it's authorization by Congress in 1980. Tom also was instrumental in the development of the trail's 1982 Comprehensive Plan and, except for a short gap of a few years, has been working on the trail on behalf of the NPS throughout his professional life.

Tom's dedication, skills, accomplishments and depth of experience have earned the admiration of his peers throughout the National Trail System, as well as the appreciation and gratitude of a multitude of volunteers and partners along the North Country Trail.

Tom accepted his 30-year acknowledgements from the NPS at the 8th Annual Conference of the Parntership for the National Trails System, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas last week. PLEASE JOIN US in celebrating Tom's accomplishments by SENDING HIM A BRIEF E-MAIL with your thanks or congratulations.
