Westbound: From the Tourist Park Trail Head turn right at the trail, going through a nice wooded area that gets lots of use and is crisscrossed with other trails, including the Noquemanon Ski Pathway. Follow the blue blazes as they take you left away from the Ski Pathway. You will climb a rocky hill, cross an open meadow and then reenter the woods to once again emerge into a meadow. All this follows the Dead River Basin to your left. Again, enter the woods, cross the railroad tracks (1.5 miles from Tourist Park Trail Head) and continue through woods, hills, and rocky areas crossing Forestville and County Road HT on your way to the Forestville Trail Head.
Eastbound: From the Forestville Trail Head, turn right onto the trail which briefly follows the Noquemanon Ski Pathway, cross County Road HT and Forestville Road and then into the woods. The trail continues for about 2.8 miles through the woods, up hills and across rocky areas until the railroad track. Cross the tracks and emerge out of the woods to a meadow. At this point you will start following the north side of the Dead River Basin. You will re-enter the woods, climb up a rocky hill, cross another meadow, down a rocky hill and back into the woods, ending just south of the Tourist Park Trail Head. Note some of this trail follows the Noquemanon Ski Pathway. |
