Segment length: 3.1 miles

On the trail:

Westbound: From the McCormick Wilderness kiosk in the west parking area off County Road 607 head south from the west end of the Peshekee River Bridge going into the Wilderness. After about 0.2 mile you will cross County Road 607 and head into the woods on the west side of the road.  You will take a left arc around a rock outcrop and then head down where you will make a sharp right about 1.4 miles from County Road 607. The remaining portion is mostly westerly for another 1.4 miles, reaching the road between Lakes Arfelin and Big Bear.

Eastbound: From the road between Lake Arfelin and Big Bear Lake, follow the trail easterly for about 1.4 miles before making a sharp turn left. You will go up and around a nice rock outcrop, making a right arc as you do for the next 1.4 miles. At County Road 607, cross the road and head into the woods in a north direction for about 0.2 mile where you will emerge at the west end of the Peshekee River Bridge that goes into the west side of the McCormick Wilderness.
