Forestville Trail Head to N of Compeau Creek

Segment Segment 12 Forestville Trail Head to N of Compeau Creek
Trail adopter(s): Shirley LaBonte, 906-228-6666 / windfallhm@aol.com
Segment length: 1.4 miles
Last update: March 2010
On the trail:

Westbound: From the Forestville (Noquemanon Ski Pathway) Trail Head parking area head north (left) and follow the trail as it traverses a mostly wooded, although some portions recently logged, terrain, arriving at Forestville Road.

Eastbound: From Forestville Road, head mostly south through the woods where some portions have been recently logged. From beginning to end you will be heading southeast, ending at the Forestville (Noquemanon Ski Pathway) Trail Head parking area.

Previous segment: 11 - Tourist Park Trail Head to Forestville Trail Head
Next segment: 13 - N of Compeau Creek to County Road 550

Vehicle access for this segment is via:

  • the Forestville Trail Head. From the corner of Wright Street and Forestville Road, take Forestville Road (also known as County Road HD) northwest. Cross the Dead River and just after completing a big curve to the left, turn right onto County Road HD (approximately 1.6 miles from Wright Street/Forestville Road intersection). Cross the railroad tracks and then immediately take a left turn onto County Road HT. Follow for about 0.7 miles around to the Noquemanon Trail Head Parking area. http://elegantseagullsdesign.com/ntn/trails/noquemanon

  • from County Road 550 (the Big Bay Road) approximately 2.3 miles north of the Tourist Park Trail Head. Turn left (west) onto Compeau Creek Road (Note: This is a dirt road and is also known as County Road HK.), cross the railroad track and follow the road around through a junk yard, up a hill and continue for about 2.1 miles, mostly west but arcing to the right into Forestville Road. There is no real parking here, so just pull off the road. Note: There are many logging roads through here, no road signs and some roads have multiple names on various maps you may locate so it is easy to get confused.
