2008 Events and Activities
The North Country Trail Hikers welcome members and non-members alike to join us for any of the following scheduled events related to the North Country National Scenic Trail as it traverses the central Upper Peninsula in and around Alger, Marquette and Baraga Counties. Please call or e-mail the contact person for details on times and locations of events and/or to let them know you plan to participate as sometimes we have to make changes in plans (weather, etc.). Note that place to meet is missing on some events. You must contact the contact person to get that information.
- Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Hiker's Challenge. The challenge is open to anyone and there is no time limit on how long a participant has to hike, snowshoe, or ski all of the 95 miles of trails within the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. To participate in the challenge, register at the Falling Rock Cafe, 906-387-3008, on M-28 in Munising. Participants finishing 50 miles will receive a free ice cream at the cafe and those completing all 95 miles will receive a certificate from Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and a t-shirt from the Alger Parks and Recreation Department. Photos of those who hike all the trails will be posted at the cafe.
