Trail Range: Based in Marquette in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the North Country Trail Hikers (NCTH) Chapter is responsible for developing, maintaining, protecting and promoting the North Country National Scenic Trail (NCNST) in western Alger County beginning at Rock River Road, traveling west through Marquette County including the City of Marquette along the shore of Lake Superior, and ending in eastern Baraga County at the Long Lake outlet west of Craig Lake State Park. See our Trail Segments page for detailed information about the trail in our area, including driving directions to trailheads and maps.
Members: The North Country Trail Hikers Chapter was the North Country Trail Association's (NCTA's) first chartered chapter. Currently we have more than 150 members. Although most members live in the Marquette area, many also reside farther away. You can be our newest member by joining NCTA / NCTH.
Chapter Activities: The chapter organizes a variety of activities, including three General Membership Meetings a year, in January, May and September, a semi-annual Softies Hike, trail maintenance work days, hikes, canoe/kayak excursions, and snowshoe and cross-country ski outings. See our Events & Activities page for up-to-date information.
NCTA Trail Town: The City of Marquette's City Commission unanimously approved to partner with the NCTA to have Marquette become an official NCTA Trail Town. Visit the City of Marquette's webpage for information on City Services.
