Finger Lakes Trail Conference

The eastern end of the North Country Trail is in New York state. From Crown Point State Historic Site on Lake Champlain, the trail meanders southwestward through Adirondack Park toward the Finger Lakes Region.
The Adirondack Mountains provide a magnificent setting for the trail in eastern New York.
Wilderness and near-wilderness experiences will await the trail user when this section of the trail is developed.
The mountains of western New York contrast with the rolling glacial topography of the Finger Lakes Region.
For more than 20 years, the members of the Finger Lakes Trail Conference have been working to establish and maintain an east-west pathway across New York.
The North Country Trail joins the Finger Lakes Trail in central New York and follows it for approximately 300 miles to the Pennsylvania border.
Along the way, hikers will want to visit the colorful gorges and plunging waterfalls of Watkins Glen . . .
. . . and the canyons of the Genesee River in Letchworth State Park.
The trail in New York also offers users the opportunity to remember earlier times -- at Old Erie Canal State Park . . .
. . . and Fort Stanwix National Monument.
