| The State of Michigan will have the greatest number of miles of the North Country Trail, over a thousand, traversing both peninsulas. Many of those miles in the lower peninsula must be built across private land by volunteers in cooperation with the landowners. Significant sections of trail across public lands are already being enjoyed by hikers, horseback riders, skiers, and others who love the outdoors. | ![]() |
