If you're
interested in searching for something just on our Chief Noonday Web site -- for
example, something in our Newsletter archives -- there are several ways you can
do it. A. Shortcut to Google
Search:
B. Using Google Search
the long way with any browser (PC or Mac):
-
Open the
Google Search page.
-
In the search box, plug in your
search term followed by a space and “site:northcountrytrail.org/cnd”
(without the quotes). For example, if you plug in
kiosk site:northcountrytrail.org/cnd
you get five pages of hits listing all the places kiosks are
mentioned on our Web site. (You may also get some comical
"Sponsored Links" which you can disregard -- unless you really want
to buy a kiosk on eBay, etc..)
C. Using Firefox (PC only):
If you use the Firefox browser, in the upper
right hand corner there is a Search Box with a drop-down list of several
search engines. You can permanently add our Web site to the drop down
list in your browser.
To learn how to do this, go to
Kim Komando's
Web site and follow her instructions, except,
in place of the code she provides, use the following which is modified for
our Web site:
<search
name="Chief Noonday"
method="GET"
action="http://www.google.com/search"
queryCharset="utf-8"> <input name="q" user>
<input name="sitesearch" value="northcountrytrail.org/cnd">
</search>
Save this file as she instructs, except
name the file "Chief Noonday.src" (without the quotes). Then when you
re-start Firefox, "Chief Noonday" will be one of the options in the
drop-down menu to the left of the search box.
D. Using Internet Explorer (PC only):
If you use Microsoft's Internet
Explorer browser, in the upper right hand corner there is a search box
similar to Firefox's with a drop-down list of search options. You can
permanently add our Web site to the drop down list in your browser.
Go to
Kim Komando's Web
Site and follow her instructions,
except for two things:
1. In place of the copy/paste address she provides,
use the following which is modified for our Web site:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=TEST+site3Awww.northcountrytrail.org/cnd&btnG=Google+Search
2.
In the Name box, enter Chief Noonday. Then,
click Install. Now, when you
click on the down-pointing arrow for Search Options, Chief Noonday will be
on the list. Select it and type your search term in the box to look
for it on our Web site.
