CHAPTER MEETINGS

Meetings are usually at 7:00 PM at the Barry Township Hall on Orchard Street in Delton the second Wednesday of each month, and are open to the public. But not in July (See next item). If you haven’t been to a meeting or haven’t been for a long time, come join us. You will find our discussion regarding the trail to be interesting and informative and the camaraderie lots of fun! Next meeting is July 13.

2nd Annual Chapter Potluck.

July 13 at 6:30 Kimball Pines, east of Battle Creek on Michigan Ave. Enter Kimball Pines at the road just east of the nursing home entrance. Lots of fun, relaxation and GREAT FOOD! The Trail Adopters are hard at work. Keeping over 40 miles of off-road trail in shape for good hiking, especially during the heaviest growing season, is a major task. Trail adopters are our “silent workers” who spend many hours on the small section of trail they have adopted. They hike, maintain, prune, mow and blaze to be sure that all who desire to enjoy a hike through their adopted section may do so with ease and enjoyment. Dave Cornell is our Trail Adopter lead. He keeps track of the work that is dome by the adopters. Dave hikes different sections of the local NCT to observe the trail and the work being done. Dave reported at the June meeting that the “trail is open and in great shape. Thanks to all of the adopters for their dedicated work. You can show your appreciation by enjoying the NCT, Remember “Don’t leave a trace”.
