The time, hard work and dedication of the North Country Trail volunteers is being rewarded. Want to find out how? Come and spend some time with us and leave in the latest trail attire. Yep a North Country Trail T-shirt of your very own. Give us an hour, get a shirt. Kellogg Biological A short section of trail has been rerouted at Kellogg Biological Station. Located north of where the trail presently crosses 40th Street, it will be signed in the near future and will then be available, as the present route will then be closed. Middleville State Game Area A new 3 mile (appx.) section of trail In Barry County east of Middleville is soon to open and will be added to the present NCTA topo maps. Work is presently being done on blazes and kiosk signage. A workday is planned for Saturday, August 21 to install the first of four new information kiosks on this section and to ‘touch up’ this section of trail. Help is needed and you can join the ‘work crew’ for an enjoyable morning on the trail. If you want to eat breakfast with us before you work, join us at 8:00 a.m. at the Thornapple Kitchen in Middleville, located on the west side of M-37 just past the traffic light. Or you can meet us at the trailhead on Crane Road (at the turn around end of the road.)
These are directions for the workday this Saturday, August 21.
Breakfast plans have been changed to meet at the Thornapple Kitchen
(see below). We will meet at 9 a.m. on Crane road near the little
league fields (which are hidden from view) and then position cars.
To get there, go east from M-37 on Main Street (the stop light) in
Middleville to Grand Rapids Street, go north 0.8 miles on Grand
Rapids Street, which changes to Whitneyville Road, and then turn
east on Crane Road and go about 0.7 miles to starting point. For
those wishing to join us for breakfast, we will meet at 8 a.m. at
the Thornapple Kitchen, which is 0.3 miles north of the light in
Middleville on M-37.
Webmaster Needed Gail Speer, who has been our webmaster for several years, has moved to the great northwoods of Wisconsin. So our chapter is looking for someone to fill her shoes that she left behind...
