NCNST Connector — Ft. Custer
to Augusta Drive TH
Here is a map or aerial image (your
choice!) showing the current track of the North Country
National Scenic Trail roadwalk/connector trail between the Fort Custer
National Cemetery Trail segment and the Augusta Drive trailhead in
Kalamazoo County. (See also our
maps of the Fort Custer National Cemetery
section and the
Augusta Drive to C Avenue section.)
In the map displayed here, the Trail
track is overlaid on a Google street map. You can change
the background to a topo map, a USGS aerial image, or a Google street map/satellite image
hybrid by
making your selection from the right-hand drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the map image.
You can tone down the background layer
to better visualize details on the ground by changing the percentage value
in the other drop-down menu right next to the background selector.
Scroll the image to the right (using
the bottom scroll bar) if necessary to activate the
background layer selection menu to the right of the map image.
By using the map tool in the upper
left corner you can also zoom in or out, and you can drag
the image to change the center point. With some of our maps, zooming in, then click 'n dragging
the map in whichever direction you want, makes it easier to make sense of the
marked waypoints, which in some cases are a bit bunched together otherwise.

Trail note(s):
-
This roadwalk connector trail
links the Ft. Custer National Cemetery NCNST trail section with the
NCNST between Augusta Drive and the Kellogg Biological Station.
-
The road at the east end of this
connector trail is Ft. Custer Drive between Dickman Road and
Armstrong Road. The Google Map incorrectly designates this road
section as "River Road." Ft. Custer Drive becomes River Road when it
crosses the county line going east at Armstrong Road.
-
In Augusta there is access to a
limited range of vendors including restaurants.
