Hike on Battle Creek Linear Park — starting from the east end and following the Battle Creek River.
Breakfast at 9:00 AM at the Apple Core Cafe, 3111 Michigan Avenue West, Battle Creek.  It's on the southeast corner of Michigan Ave. West and Stillson Blvd. just east of the small grocery that's right on the corner.
After we complete the process of spotting vehicles we'll probably get hiking around 10:00 AM.
We will start from the parking area at Bailey Park north of Roosevelt Avenue and hike south from there past the Verona Dam Overlook.  The hiking distance downtown should be in the vicinity of 3 miles.  (All but the portion between Bailey Park and Emmett Street should count as Hiker Challenge miles.)
For more information, see the Hike Committee worksheet.
We plan to have lunch at the Arcadia Brewing Company after the hike.

We recommend letting the Webmaster know if you plan to participate, so we'll know to wait for you if you're held up — or if we need to change plans for some reason.  We don't want to take off and leave you!

The event will take place at Michigan State's Pavilion for Agriculture & Livestock Education (driving directions. See the Google Map -- but note that what the map shows as "College Rd" around the pavilion is actually called "Pavilion Drive" on the road signs at the location.
The Quiet Water Symposium celebrates non-motorized outdoor recreation and a shared concern for our Great Lakes environment.  This year's program will include seminars and exhibits on paddle sports, biking, camping, sailing, diving and more.
