Chapter Newsletter
Winter 2001
Greetings to all old and new Butler Chapter members, your friends and your family. Thank you for your continued support of the North Country Trail. The NCT is moving forward steadily in Pennsylvania, with many exciting plans. We hope you will take part in one of these many opportunities if time and resources permit. This newsletter only details a small part of what's going on. For more info, contact
Butler Chapter President Ron Rice at (724) 735-2619 or RockNCTA@mail.com. You can also find out more by attending our next meeting. New and Renewing Member Drive (Win a
NCTA Chapter T-shirt)
Current Members: The heart and sole of any organization are its members and volunteers. If you are due to renew your membership please don't let this notice pass you by. Your support makes all we do possible.
New Member Drive: If we all just signed up one new member each, we could double our membership for the upcoming year. Please encourage your family and friends to become members. To peak your enthusiasm for our new member drive, we will give away a
Butler Chapter T-shirt to one lucky winner (a $15 value). Every new member you sign up (make sure they include your name on the sign-up form) gives you one entry in the T-shirt drawing that will take place on
on National Trail Day , 2002. Memberships for new members are only $18 (only $16 for students). Thanks for your help building our base of supporters and volunteers.
The Butler Fall
Look at what the Butler chapter has been up to:
- Fall general membership meetings
- Hikes Cherry Pie and PA State Game Lands 95 near Parker, PA
- Installing signs along the trail
- Attending the NCTA PA Council meeting in Butler, PA
- Maintaining the trail and removing all down trees
New Meeting Schedule
Our new meeting schedule is now in effect. We are now holding regular member meetings 3 times a year. These meetings will therefore be important to attend if you want to be actively involved in chapter activities. During off meeting months we will schedule hikes and special events (perhaps a dinner or trip to an outdoor related event).
The next Butler Chapter meeting is every first Wednesday, 6:30 PM at the YMCA (Washington St.,
Butler).
Topics to be covered at the next Butler Chapter meeting include: trail adopter(s) for the west section of PA State Gamelands 95, volunteer hour reporting, hike and trail maintenance schedule for spring, other NCTA events in Pennsylvania, chapter by-laws, and more.
