Upcoming Events:

NTD -  Lynne is working on some new ideas for NTD  on June 5, 2010.  Details will be discussed at the Spring meeting.

2010 National Conference

Paul J, Bob N, and  Nasons are on planning committee.  Conference will be held Aug 5-8, at AmericInn in Ashland.  Entertainment, workshops, and hikes.  Committee will meet in Dec & Jan to wrap up planning.

Help will be needed from our chapter.  Will need to distribute publicity materials starting in April, also need hike leaders, and  solicit items to auction for fundraisers.  Chapter members are invited to sit in on plan committee meetings.  Next one is Dec 12 at Vaughn Library in Ashland,

Adopter issues – Three sections of trail are in need of adopters see P. Nason.  Early this summer the chapter adopters got behind and the trail was in poor shape.  Some through hikers complained.  Mowing wasn’t as much a problem as all the blowdown due to some high winds and dying balsams.

Tim M requested help on his section due to the large number of fallen trees.

Membership Hiking Group: Solon Hikers have recessed for the winter.  Iron River group remains active throughout the year.  Valerie questioned why the Solon group meets on Thursdays as it would be more family friendly if hikes were held on weekends.  She would like to see us integrate more nature education aimed at youth along with the hikes.

The official NCTA logo has been changed.  As a result, we will have to redo the logo on our trailer.  Tim M. made a motion we ask P. Nordgren to write a grant for trailer logo-passed

Kiosk in Bird Sanctuary:  Scott – The chapter and FoBS received a  grant to put up kiosk with information regard the BS and the trail.  Space not being used.  It needs to be revitalized.  There are 4 participants:  DNR, Douglas Co,  FOBS & Brule-St Croix Chapter.    We need to review the trail input – weren’t we working on something that has been stalled in the Park Service?  Ask P. Nordgren about this.

Election of new officers:  Tim Mowbray was nominated for President and Peter Nason agreed to accept another term as treasurer.  All present voted in favor.

Next Meeting:   April 17, 2010, 9 am at Highland Town Hall.  Chuck will make arrangements with Town of Highland to use facilities.

Adjournment:   Motion by JoAnn P., seconded by Peter Nason.  Passed.  Meeting adjourned at 10:20 am.
