Chief Bau Beese Chapter
of the NCTA Leadership Committee Meeting
MINUTES for March 2,
2008 6pm
Attendance: Ryan
Bowles, Bob Roleke, Ralph Powell
Meeting was chaired by
Ryan Bowles.
Minutes were recorded by
Ralph Powell.
Minutes for December
meeting were approved.
Treasury: As of Dec 31
the chapter had a balance of $4465.
Work Days:
December: Road signing was completed by two
volunteers from Lost Nations to the Ohio State line
using blue blazes along the roadway (primarily on Tuttle
Road.
January workday was
dovoted to scouting for a better way of crossing the
creek and wet area in the south section of Lost Nations
(south of Skuse Road).
February workday
was cancelled due to the weather.
March workday will
be devoted to building a turnpike in the low drainage
area north of Skuse Road using 6x6 lengths of lumber and
fill hopefully from the area. We will need pails and
possible a wheelbarrow.
April and possibly
May will probably be devoted to completion of the March
project.
June: Annual
chapter meeting (see New Business below).
July and following
outings will likely be used to deal with the route
change suggested from the scouting in January. This
will include a bridge over the stream and new trail on
the hillsides on either side of the stream.
Membership: We
have 57 members in the chapter as of Jan 31.
Old
Business:
Jeff Ward is
still working on a new brochure for the chapter. A
draft may be available soon.
Mike Dundas is
working on obtaining a permit to build a bridge across
the stream at the location suggested by the January
workday scouting.
Ryan Bowles is trying to
contact land owners for possible routing of the trail in
several areas to move it off the road and other problem
areas.
New Busines:
Chapter membership meeting needs detailed planning. A picnic
was suggested on the trail or Baw Beese Park. A
volunteer is needed to organize the food and beverages.
Bob Roleke agreed
to contact old Hillsdale members. Ryan will give him
the contact list.
National issues:
Since funding from the Park Service has been inadequate
to cover NCTA financial needs a substantial dues
increase has been approved by the national executive
committee. NCTA has a new director, Bruce Matthews.
Meeting was adjourned at
about 7:00 pm. |
